PTI leaders hold breakfast meeting with Diplomatic Core

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Secretary General Asad Umar told the diplomats in Islamabad on Tuesday that the party wanted free and fair elections to resolve the nation’s political unrest.

The PTI leaders met with the diplomatic community for a “breakfast meeting” in Islamabad which was organized by Neil Hawkins, the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan. The meeting also included the participation of the ambassadors of Muslim and European nations.

“We discussed views on the regional and general political condition of the nation during the meeting,” Qureshi added.

Both leaders briefed the envoys on the PTI’s demand for transparent elections that take place on time and put an end to the continuing political unrest in the nation.

Qureshi continued, “We are quite appreciative to the Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins for organizing this breakfast meeting.”

Since the Pakistani government was overthrown by a vote of no-confidence in April of last year, the PTI, led by Imran Khan, has been actively campaigning for general elections in Pakistan.

The party dissolved the legislatures in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provinces where it was in control, in order to push for their demand for immediate elections.
