PTI MNAs to verify resignations next week: Reports

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislators have decided to appear before National Assembly Speaker Raja Parvez Ashraf to have their resignations verified.

The National Assembly (MNA) members will either come before the speaker on Wednesday or Thursday, according to the local media reports. PTI Chairman Imran Khan will decide on the date during the consultative meeting.

The decision was made by PTI, according to the reports, after the member’s letter to the NA speaker went unanswered.

The reports added that the National Assembly’s speaker had not yet given time for the lawmakers to confirm their resignations.

The PTI parliamentarians collectively offered their resignations following the removal of the Imran Khan administration in April via a resolution of no-confidence.

Following Asad Qaiser’s departure, according to the PTI, resignations were accepted by the former deputy speaker Qasim Suri without the speaker’s presence.

However, after Raja Pervez Ashraf was chosen as speaker, he opted to conduct one-on-one interviews with parliamentarians to confirm the resignations. Raja only accepted 11 of the PTI member’s resignations.
