PTI offers ‘Punjab party president’ post to Elahi

Chief Minister Punjab Parvez Elahi on Wednesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan offered him the position of party president in the province in exchange for the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) merging with his party.

According to local media reports, CM Elahi made it clear to the media during a ceremony in Lahore that his party must first discuss its supporters and workers before making any such choice.

According to the chief minister, the PML-Q had 10 MPAs in Punjab and they had to first consult the people of their respective constituencies. He stated that no decision had yet been made in this regard.

When asked about the show cause notice PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain sent to him, CM Elahi stated Imran Khan was their benefactor and someone they would never forget.

Shujaat convened an urgent meeting of the senior leaders, at which it was observed that Elahi, the province president, lacked the authority to unite the party with PTI, according to a show-cause notice sent to him.
