PTI rally participants to be given foolproof security, assures police

Lahore Police has finalized a security plan to provide foolproof security to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s political gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on Thursday.

According to details, about 4,000 officers and personnel of Lahore Police will be deployed. Ten SPs, 25 SDPOs, 59 SHOs, 207 upper subordinates and 234 ladies police personnel will also be on duty.

Every person attending the rally will be checked by police. Walk-through gates, barriers, barbed wire, metal detectors will be used by Police to enhance and ensure security.

Monitoring will also be done through the cameras of Punjab Safe Cities Authority.

Earlier, the power show was allowed by the district administration. DIG Operations Dr. Abid said that the organizers of the rally should cooperate with the district administration and law enforcement agencies.

On the other hand, the traffic police have also finalized the traffic plan. 11 DSPs, 51 inspectors, 21 fork lifters, two breakdown and four emergency squads have been formed for the participants and citizens on the occasion of the rally.

A total of more than 660 personnel will be on duty at the rally. CTO Lahore Muntazer Mehdi said that the participants of the rally will be able to park their vehicles at Greater Iqbal, Mochi Gate, and Lahore Fort. He further said that there would be complete diversion of heavy and slow moving vehicles from Shahdara Chowk, Sagyan Chowk, Begum Kot Chowk and Kachehri Chowk. Citizens will be kept informed of the traffic situation from time to time through Rasta FM and Rasta app.

Muntazer Mehdi said that citizens can call Traffic Helpline 15 for help and guidance at any time. He mentioned exclusively that the road will be cleared for ambulances.
