Bilawal claims PTI indulging in poll fraud, violence

The PTI is responsible for recent violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party alleged on Sunday while expressing resentment over news of alleged fraud in the ongoing local government (LG) elections in the province.

The first stage of the LG polls were held in KP on Sunday in 17 districts, whereas the remaining polls will take place in January 2022. Bilawal tweeted that the ruling party was indulging in fraud and violence, and trying to undermine people’s vote.

He accused the mortal assault on ANP’s candidate in Dera Ismail Khan was part of a chain of incidents that took place before and during the voting. He stated that the late candidate’s family had alleged someone linked with PTI had murdered him, prior to trying to bribe him.

Bilawal connected the event to the alleged pre-election fraud that was reported from Peshawar’s neighborhood council 34 on Saturday night and news of voting stations being assaulted during the polling process on Sunday.

He contended that PTI workers were caught red-handed stamping ballot papers in Peshawar the night before voting. There were news of PTI people raiding polling stations, assaulting voting staff, including females.

He stated that the PTI had taken fraud to a new scale, displaying the desperation and notoriety of its government, adding that that was what a desperately notorious government government looked like.

Bilawal urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take steps against alleged fraud and ensure free and fair polls. He also called upon the people of KP to emerge in droves to use their right to choose rather than get discouraged by PTI tactics, encouraging the PPP workers to report violations of the party’s election cells or directly to the ECP.
