Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will show cards after the army chief’s appointment only if fresh elections will not be held.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has said that whoever will be appointed as the army chief he will be the army chief of Pakistan. He further said that PTI has tried its best to keep the post undisputed and will continue to do so.

In a statement, Fawad Chaudhry said that PTI has no reservations over any name but the problem was the merit of those who did not apply the merit of those who were involved.

Fawad also said that the establishment in Pakistan has greatly increased its role due to which decisions will also be affected. He added that if the institution wants to be apolitical then it will be a very positive thing.

PTI leader said that his party had talks with the government about holding elections but the current authorities in fear of defeat refused to announce the date. He added that former president Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif had decided to declare martial law in the country.

“If there is any impediment to martial law it is PTI,” Fawad added. He stated that preparations for the long march were already underway and Imran Khan will unveil his future strategy in Rawalpindi.

He slammed the government’s nomination of the army chief claiming that the defence and interior ministries were making contradictory remarks on the matter.

“We want the problem settled without acrimony and we have no favourite candidate,” he stated. By arranging talks with the criminals the government has made an important appointment into a contentious issue, he said.
