PTI writes letters to EU, US, UK to take notice of govt actions

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has written to the European Union, the American House of Representatives, the British House of Lords, and international human rights organizations to draw their attention to violence against activists and lawmakers as well as against the PTI’s chairman, Imran Khan.

Former speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has written letters on behalf of the PTI to the US House of Representatives, House of Lords, EU, IPU, CPA, and human rights organizations requesting that they take notice of the government’s violence against lawmakers and employees and take action to put a stop to it.

A call has been issued for people to pay attention and take action against the government’s policies.

Qaiser said in the letters that as a former speaker “I want to bring awareness of the violations of human rights in Pakistan.”

In the letters, he claimed that the interim administrations in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa violated serious human rights to silence political workers’ voices. The former prime minister Imran Khan, was the target of attacks, including 11 bullets fired and 127 charges being registered, all to get him expelled from politics.

The letters claimed that the Pakistan Democratic Movement administration in power had used bogus audio and video to blackmail the country’s highest court.

Qaiser said in the letters that the Election Commission of Pakistan unlawfully delayed the polls in two provinces despite the Supreme Court’s unequivocal directions.
