A Karachi court has granted police a three-day remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh’s leader and former minister Ali Haider Zaidi.

The move follows his arrest on a decade-old fraud charge after a complaint was made by property dealer Fazal Ilahi against Zaidi and two others for allegedly providing him with a “fake” property file as part of a partial loan repayment.

The court order noted that the accusation against Zaidi was backed up by the relevant documents, and prima facie evidence justified his arrest. Zaidi has denied the allegations and claimed the case was “fabricated.” The court will reconvene on April 20.
