PTI’s wickets keep falling; Hashim Dogar and Khurram Nawaz also announce acquittal

Col. Hashim Dogar, a former home minister for Punjab, has demanded that those responsible for the demonstrations and damage on May 9 be given exemplary punishment.

“Whoever was involved, whether that was in inciting, motivating, or physically attacking, they should be punished such that never again until the country remains anyone gets the chance to do any such action against any institution,” he stated in response to a news conference in Islamabad.

He further attributed the occurrences to remarks made by PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz against the military.

On the other hand, following the events of May 9, former PTI MNA Raja Khurram Nawaz announced his departure from the party among other politicians from the Rawalpindi area.

Speaking to the media today in Islamabad, he declared, “All my companions and I, all the [party] position holders, we resign from those positions.”

Nawaz said the decision had been reached following a discussion among himself and other PTI officials, noting that he is a member of the Central Executive Committee of the party. He also stated that they were “resigning from politics for now” and will decide on their future course of action after contacting their fans.

Nawaz said that those who perpetrated violent crimes should face punishment, but those who were innocent and imprisoned should be freed.
