Qatar eliminated as Switzerland and Canada reach knockout stage

Six teams have now been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup 2026.

In a Group B match, Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Qatar 3-1 moving up to third place in the group. The defeat resulted in Qatar’s elimination from the tournament.

With Qatar’s exit, a total of six teams have now been knocked out of the 2026 World Cup. Qatar, the host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and a two-time Asian champion has failed to advance to the next stage.

Meanwhile, Switzerland and host nation Canada have qualified for the knockout round. In the final Group B fixture, Switzerland defeated Canada 2-1.

Switzerland finished at the top of Group B with seven points. Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina both ended with four points but Canada secured qualification for the next round due to a superior goal difference.
