Imran Khan made contentious comments during an interview with a well-known American TV network when the interviewer repeatedly questioned him about the evidence he had suggesting the prime minister, interior minister, and an intelligence officer were responsible for the armed attack on him. Sadly, his comments jeopardise the credibility of all intelligence services globally.
The PTI chairman asserted during the interview on Monday that he had received advance notice of an assassination attempt against him from within the intelligence institutions. He went on to say that the information was supplied to him because most individuals in this country are horrified by what is happening, hinting that disgruntled intelligence officers were responsible for alerting him to the plan.
He said that the current prime minister, the interior minister, and a serving major general were all involved for the prior warning he had of a planned attempt on his life.
Imran Khan has demanded the resignation of the three individuals on numerous occasions since the attack event. Accepting Imran Khan’s resignation request would imply that, in accordance with the constitution, any citizen of the nation would be permitted to demand their resignation by raising concerns about the leadership of the state and government. Equal rights apply to all citizens. Therefore, it appears that the Tehreek-e-Insaf leader is unreasonable in his demand for resignation.
Imran Khan made these comments when the prime minister himself asked the chief justice to look into Imran Khan’s claims on the shooting event as it relates to the inquiry involving him and the interior minister in this matter. Imran Khan has also endorsed the suggestion that the commission is established with judges. If there are no constitutional or legal issues with the nomination of the intelligence agency officer in this circumstance, it can be done. If the complainant is within the bounds of the law and the constitution and the facts are made public through an open judicial investigation, the debate over the case’s FIR can be put to rest and the path for the investigation can be cleared.
Pakistan’s intelligence services have been made controversial with the statement of Imran Khan. Being said by a former prime minister, it is even more astounding that he does not seem to realise what the phrase really means. Imran Khan put himself and everyone else present in considerable danger by starting the long march, even if he had knowledge of the plot beforehand and, moreover, without taking the essential measures. That exhibited great recklessness. In other words, he is also alleging the existence of a mole in the intelligence machinery. During his time as prime minister, he seemed to have little objection to the way the intelligence services operated, even going so far as to assert that they had a right to be informed of his every move.
