Republicans have come closer to take the lead in the US House of Representatives taking control of Democrats.

In the 435-member House Republicans have won 210 House seats while Democrats have been able to win only 176 seats. Therefore Republicans are now just eight seats short to reach to 218 and wrest the house from Democrats. They will also be able to create problems by halting the legislative agenda of US President Joe Biden.

So far 33 House contests have been left to be decided which also include 21 of 53 most competitive seats in the race, according to an analysis of Reuters.

US President Biden has said at a White House news conference, “The American people have made clear, I think, that they expect Republicans to be prepared to work with me as well.” Biden also spoke with Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy, according to a White House official.

Counting of votes is underway in other seats while both parties have 48 seats each in the Senate.

In Georgia, there will be a re-contest between Senators Rafael and Herschel Walker and if Rafael is defeated the Democratic control of the Senate will also be threatened.

It should be noted that US citizens exercised their right to vote to elect all 435 seats of the House of Representatives and 35 out of 100 seats of the Senate, 36 governors, state assemblies and public representatives at the local level.

According to the latest results, Republicans have taken the lead in the US House of Representatives.
