SIALKOT: Rescue 1122, in collaboration with district departments, conducted its fourth mock flood exercise at Motra Canal to assess emergency preparedness and strengthen coordination among rescue and relief agencies in the event of flooding.

The exercise was organized under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Owais Mushtaq on the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The nighttime drill was aimed at evaluating the effectiveness and response capacity of rescue and relief operations during a potential flood emergency.

In addition to Rescue 1122, the exercise was attended by representatives from the Health Department, Municipal Committees and Municipal Corporation, District Council, Civil Defence, WASA, Livestock Department, the Pakistan Army, and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Zulqarnain, accompanied by the District Emergency Officer (DEO) Rescue 1122 and the Assistant Commissioners of Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial, inspected the mock exercise and reviewed the preparedness of participating departments.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC (Revenue) appreciated the pivotal role played by Rescue 1122 in emergency management and said that such mock exercises are conducted to evaluate preparedness before any emergency situation arises, enabling authorities to launch timely and effective rescue and relief operations whenever required.

The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a high level of readiness and inter-departmental coordination to ensure the safety of lives and property during the monsoon and flood season.
