Rs144.69bn burden to fall on consumers due to electricity prices’ quarterly adjustment

A burden of Rs144.69 billion is expected to fall on consumers in terms of quarterly adjustment.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear today a petition filed by state-owned distribution companies seeking a price hike in the fourth quarter adjustment.

According to the text of the petition, FESCO has asked for an increase of Rs23.49 billion, GEPCO has sought an increase of Rs16.13 billion, while HESCO and LESCO have requested for an increase of Rs9 billion each.

Apart from this, LESCO has requested for an increase of Rs31 billion, MEPCO Rs27 billion, PESCO Rs9 billion, CASCO Rs7 billion, SEPCO Rs5 billion and TESCO Rs4 billion rupees.
