Muzammil Hussain says no pre-mature payments made, project completed before time

Former Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) chairman Lt. General (retired) Muzammil Hussain has denied all the allegations against him of Rs753 million corruption in the Tarbela Fourth Hydropower Extension Project (T4HP).

The former WAPDA chairman appeared before the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) office on Monday after an investigation was started against him about corruption worth Rs753 million in the T4HP.

After his appearance before NAB for up to two hours, which questioned the former chairman, Hussain said that no pre-mature payments were made to the contractors. He stated that the project had completed before scheduled time, adding that the cost was recovered after the start of electricity production.

Talking to the media after appearance in NAB, Hussain refused that there was any political victimization, saying that a complaint was registered against him due to which the NAB had considered it necessary to verify the matter.

He said that he was not given any questionnaire as he had answered all the questions asked from him. He also assured that he would appear before the NAB if summoned again.

Earlier, Hussain was also summoned by NAB Lahore but did not appear before it.
