SACM orders repair of BP dyke weak spots

Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sadiq Memon along with other officials of revenue and Irrigation Department visited different areas of BP protective dyke on Friday and reviewed its condition.

After visiting the dyke he evaluated flow of water in different water channels of the District and sought a detailed briefing from the officials concerned about the threat being posed by these waterways to the nearby localities. He directed revenue authorities to identify sensitive spots of all protective dykes of the district and start their pitching as well as revamping instantly and start round the clock patrolling in order to avert any eventuality. Issuing stern warning he said that any kind of negligence at the part of concerned officials would not be tolerated at any coast.

Later on he visited relief camps set up in Gharo and Daabeji town of district Thatta for flood victims of Larkana and Dadu district and urged camp authorities for provision of basic facilities to the affected families. While addressing the affected families he said that the flood victim would not be left alone by the Sindh Government and all their issues would be addressed on priority. Highlighting the role of Pakistan Army throughout the catastrophe he said that the forces of this country had been backbone of our Nation who had stood by them during all ups and down and at all fronts.  He said that state of affairs were well under control and were not as threatening as in 2010 adding that people should avoid spreading rumors. On the other hand PPP MPA Haji Ali Haasan Zardari has said that flood has dealt huge loss to growers of district Thatta as it washed away sanding crops of worth of millions adding that all possible effort for restoration of auricular sector adding that over 200 villages had been affected by flood in riverine area of the district.
