Safe City app helps arrest harassment suspect in Lahore case

Lahore – Acting on a harassment complaint made by a girl on social media, the Safe City staff took immediate action using modern technology and ensured the arrest of the suspect.

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority, using advanced cameras and a digital monitoring system responded promptly to a harassment incident and arrested the accused.

A 16-year-old girl who was a victim of harassment reported through the Safe City Next Generation Safety App’s Anonymous Chat feature that a boy was continuously harassing and blackmailing her. He was also threatening to share her pictures on social media if she did not comply which caused her severe mental stress and made her feel suicidal.

The Safe City psychologists provided continuous counseling and helped restore the girl’s confidence assuring her that her identity would remain completely confidential.

After gaining her trust, the girl provided details of the suspect following which the authorities took immediate action using modern technology and arrested him. The victim was also provided full legal and psychological support.
