Sanaullah leaked my audio: Sheikh Rasheed

Former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed accused Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Sunday of leaking his controversial call in which he could be heard asking a person whether he made a “payment” to persuade PML-N leader Jalil Sharaqpuri to resign from his seat in the Punjab Assembly.

Earlier, PML-N Member of Provincial Assembly Jalil Sharqpuri met Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in Lahore on Saturday and submitted his resignation which surprised the PML-N. On Sunday, alleged audio of a conversation between Sheikh Rasheed and a person named Gul Zaman had gone viral which gave the impression that Jalil Sharqpuri was paid to resign. In his defence, Sharqpuri said that Sheikh Rasheed purposely did this to malign him. He said he has met Rasheed only once in his life and he is a terrible person for PTI.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Rasheed confirmed the audio and said that he was joking and denied any such transaction. He accused Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah of releasing and manipulating the audio because the PMLN is upset with the resignation of Sharqpuri. He further said that Jalil Ahmad Sharqpuri is an honest person and has no political connection with Jalil Ahmed Sharqpuri. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah says that it is possible that Sharqpuri received funding from Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

During the press conference in Islamabad, Rana Sanaullah said that the media has leaked the audio of Sheikh Rashid. “Everyone knows Gul Zaman. He is the front man of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. He is in charge of the stolen property. Sheikh Rasheed told him that the payment has been made,” he said. The federal minister said that he had a meeting with Jalil Sharqpuri in which he realized that Sharqpuri is a very greedy and mean person. Regarding the arrest of Shehbaz Gill, he said that he purposely got himself arrested, “we had no intention”.

He said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi has gone mad because he can see his defeat. He called this election a mini lection and said that a large number of people have come out to vote in this by-election.
