Sarmad Khoosat’s ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ finally gets a release date

The much-awaited yet much-tested Pakistani film ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ is finally getting released, and the news has every Pakistani excited. The film, helmed by ace director Sarmad Sultan Khoosat was actually released in 2019 and was sent to international festivals, but could never make it to Pakistani cinema screens on the reservations of the religious right, who had issues with the content and never allowed it to hit the theatres. However, after a two-year long ban on ‘Zindagi Tamasha’, a release date has finally been given to the film, which happens to be March 18 of the coming year.

Written by Nirmal Bano, ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ stars Samiya Mumtaz, Ali Kureshi, Eman Suleman and Arif Hassan and has already garnered multiple awards at various festivals.

Along with fans, Khoosat’s colleagues from the fraternity are equally happy at the uplift of the ban from the film. Nimra Bucha, who played Manto’s alter-ego in Khoosat’s biopic of the author shared the news of the film’s release with a sarcastic remark ‘Khuda Karay’ at the end of her post, which hinted at the unpredictably of Pakistan’s political situation which often takes a jab at the country’s artistic and literary activities.
