The Supreme Court allowed PIA to recruit 205 new professionals while deferring the recruitment of 45 other seats.
PIA had sought permission to recruit 250 on the pilots, cabin crew, IT specialists, finance and management side. The Supreme Court allowed the recruitment of pilots, cabin crew and IT experts.
The court directed the PIA management to make the recruitment process transparent.
Justice Ayesha Malik remarked that PIA is not able to pay its dues, why PIA has to make more recruitments.
Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan remarked that the quality of pia’s services is not up to mark, the new recruitment will put a burden of more than 90 million rupees per month on the organization.
CEO PIA said that a plan has been made to make PIA stand on its feet, the profit of the national airline for the last six months is 3 billion and flights are operating on profitable routes, more flight operations have started on international and national routes.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked that the flight staff of other airlines is less, recruitment will be on a permanent basis or on contract? CEO PIA said that the recruitments will be on a one-year extended contract basis.
After hearing the arguments of CEO PIA and Additional Attorney General, the court allowed the recruitment. A two-member bench headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case.
