SC bench includes Saqib-Nisar-fied judges, says Nawaz Sharif

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo Nawaz Sharif has presented a plan during the meeting that was called to discuss how to build barriers against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) growing judicial pressure on the government. The meeting was held at the PM’s home in Model Town.

In the midst of debate over the suo motu notice issued in this respect, the Supreme Court is currently considering a case regarding the delay in the Punjab Assembly elections.

The purpose of the gathering was to ask Nawaz whether or not the government should support the current legal process, a media report has claimed. Nawaz’s blunt view was that “there is no expectation of justice from the three-member bench,” it added.

Nawaz was quoted as stating that “the three-member bench includes the Saqib-Nisar-fied judges” (those who were won over by former Supreme Court chief justice Saqib Nisar).

The PDM leadership also supported the recommendation to boycott the bench.

Nawaz was also reported as stating that there was a purpose behind the government’s justified request for a full court panel not being met.
