Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan has said that the Supreme Court will be informed of the results of a discussion between political parties on the election schedule at the next hearing on April 27.
After a hearing in the Chief Justice’s chambers, the AGP addressed the media. He said that it had been agreed to give the political parties additional time to have negotiations.
The Supreme Court will be briefed on these negotiations at the upcoming hearing on April 27, the AGP added.
Earlier today, the Supreme Court heard the case regarding elections in Punjab. The court has ordered to hold elections on May 14.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Defence Ministry and Finance Ministry had submitted their reports saying that there were problems in providing funds and personnel for security for holding elections.
The court, in its previous hearing, had ordered the SBP to issue funds for holding elections directly to the ECP. But the parliament, in its resolution, had denied issuing funds directly.
