The central spokesperson for Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) on Friday said that the lack of teachers and other facilities in schools of Mashkay area of Awaran district in Balochistan was a serious concern that needed immediate government attention.

In a statement, he said such a state of wearisome portrayed the worsening realm of education in Balochistan’s rural areas in particular and urban in general.

The spokesperson further said that only a few teachers were present in Government Girls High School and Government Boys High School (Mashkay), whereas other teachers were absent despite taking their salaries on time.

It is to be noted that, according to a report of Alif Ailaan, as many as 6,000 teachers of Balochistan did not perform their duties. The residents of the town also recorded several protests to ask the authorities to ensure the presence of the teachers and take concrete actions.

“Owing to no action upon the requests of the people, they [the locals] decided to lock the two schools in protest,” he added.

“Despite repeated appeals to the government officials, the government officials are silent towards solving the issues of the town which is saddening,” the spokesperson concluded.

It merits mentioning here that Balochistan’s education is in decline. The situation appears even direr after taking into consideration the fact that for the past few months, students have been protesting on roads for various purposes. On one hand, Balochistan University students were demonstrating due to the disappearance of two students of the varsity from the hostel; on the other hand, medical students were taking part in a sit-in for the last 16 days against a test by the Pakistan Medical Commission intended to prove their registration.
