Screening of ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ gets delayed once more

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s film ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ has been facing resistance ever since it was made back in 2019. Initially, the film got banned in Pakistan following protests by religious sections of the society including a far-right political party for not carrying content appropriate enough to be screened in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Now, it was almost after three years that the film had gained a release date, which was supposed to be March 18 of this year.

However, news is it that the screening has been postponed once again. Sarmad Khoosat, who has directed and produced the film, has issued the following statement:

“Although I feel sincerely for those who have been waiting for the film’s public release, this is in fact, a strategic decision taken by us in consultation with our distributor to postpone the film keeping in mind this great demand for its screening. We have therefore decided to have exclusive pre-release shows of the film across select cinemas in major cities before its public release in summer 2022.”

This shows that the film has luckily not garnered any kind of resistance this time, but it is the film team’s own decision to delay its screening.

‘Zindagi Tamasha’ has been written by Nirmal Bano and has also won awards at Busan International Film Festival and 2021 Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles. It stars Arif Hassan, Samiya Mumtaz, Eman Suleman and Ali Kureshi in significant roles.
