Usman Buzdar, Pervaiz Elahi, Monis Elahi, Yasmin Rashid, and other well-known figures from the previous Punjab administration no longer have security protection provided by the Punjab and Lahore police.
In Lahore, more than 1,000 police officers continued to provide a protocol to political representatives including PTI’s head of social media Dr. Arsalan Khalid. However, according to reports, security has been withdrawn from important figures and 554 officers deployed from Lahore and other units of the Punjab Police have been sent back to police stations and units.
Additionally, the police vehicles and their personnel have been removed from Monis Elahi’s security. Former ministers Mian Aslam Iqbal, Raja Basharat, Yasmin Rashid and Murad Ras also no longer have security.
Khurram Munawar, Mosaddek Abbasi, Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Haroon Gul, Pir Saif Abbas Ali Shah and Tahir Ashrafi were all removed as advisers to the former chief minister. Security for assembly secretary Inayatullah and personal secretary Mohammad Khan Bhatti of the previous chief minister has also been removed.
Up to 24 vehicles and 554 staff have been taken out of the Punjab Police’s Lahore and other departments. It should be mentioned that 602 officers and officers continue to be assigned to Imran Khan’s security detail.
