The Senate has passed a resolution to conduct countrywide elections simultaneously.
A meeting of the Senate was called under the chairmanship of Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, in which a resolution was presented to hold elections of all provincial assemblies and the national assembly at the same time.
The resolution said that elections to the national and provincial assemblies should be held on the same day. It said that political stability was necessary for economic stability and therefore all elections must be held simultaneously.
There was a strong protest from the opposition against the passage of the resolution, and the opposition members surrounded the senate chairman’s dice and shouted slogans.
Opposition leader in Senate PTI’s Senator Shahzad Waseem said that the House has been robbed. He said that the Punjab election should be held according to the order of the Supreme Court, but the government has been constantly engaged in contempt of court.
Shahzad Waseem rejecting the resolution passed in the Senate demanded to present that again.
The Senate also passed the National Disaster Management Act, 2010, bill 2022 to further amend it. The bill was introduced by Senator Sammy Ezdi.
