At least seven people lost their lives and 33 others were injured in storm-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 24 hours, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

Officials said the deaths were caused by strong winds, lightning strikes, and heavy rainfall in different parts of the province. The fatalities include two children, four men, and one woman.

Incidents were reported from Bannu, Shangla, and Mansehra districts. In several cases, houses collapsed due to intense winds and rainfall, leading to casualties and injuries among residents.

The PDMA said damage assessments are underway in affected areas, while rescue teams have been deployed to assist local authorities and provide relief to victims.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. It added that most other regions of the country are likely to remain hot and dry.

The PDMA had already issued weather alerts for Swat, Upper Dir, Kohistan, Buner, and nearby districts, warning of possible flooding and further rain-related hazards.

Authorities have also cautioned that rising temperatures after June 15 could accelerate snowmelt in northern areas, increasing the risk of flash floods.

The public has been advised to avoid rivers, streams, and low-lying areas during heavy rainfall. In case of emergencies, citizens can contact the PDMA helpline 1700.

Officials said monitoring and preparedness measures are being strengthened as more rain activity is expected in the coming days.
