Shah Mehmood to lead party in case of my disqualification: Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan stated that PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi will lead the party if he gets disqualified.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi will lead the party if I’m disqualified’, Khan stated during a meeting with journalists and solicitors on Saturday at his Zaman Park home in Lahore.

Since being removed from office in April of last year, the PTI leader has been dealing with a number of matters ranging from terrorism to corruption.

He was detained on May 9 in accordance with arrest warrants issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust case.

Four days or so after the Supreme Court ruled that his arrest was unlawful, he was freed.

Khan claimed that some party leaders were being forced to resign from the party, while others had been outed.

The next general elections would be won by PTI despite the party leaders’ defections, according to Khan, who referred to the youth as one of his party’s most valuable assets.

Arif Alvi would continue to serve in accordance with the Constitution, according to Khan, amid rumors that the PTI-backed president might resign.

The PTI leader alleged that a plot had been made to “arrest, disqualify, and even assassinate him”.

The PTI leader denied charges that he gave orders for party members to destroy military installations, claiming that he never authorized acts of violence or vandalism.
