Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy to direct upcoming Star Wars movie

 

Proud moment for all of us. Lucasfilm, the company that produces the Star Wars franchise has announced that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be the director of the latest films in the series. She will be the first woman and person of color to direct a Star Wars film. The writer of the famous TV show Peaky Blinders will be writing the script for the film.

Previously, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who has bagged both, an Oscar award and an Emmy award, is well known for her documentaries.

Her documentaries “Saving Face”, “A Girl in the River” and “The Price of Forgiveness” earned great fame and appreciation.

During the announcement, she expressed great excitement and said that she has been always attracted to her’s journey and the world needs more heroes. She further added, “The blueprints of the heroes we see on screen should be rooted in reality, which is why I was attracted to the promise of a new Jedi Order.”

The rumors about this collaboration between Obaid-Chinoy and Lucasfilm started coming out in October 2022. This news has sparked excitement among star wars fans.
