Sheikh Rasheed challenges lal haveli sealing in court

Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has approached the court on the issue of sealing Lal Haveli by the Evacuee Trust Property Rawalpindi.

Former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed, through advocate Sardar Raziq Khan, challenged the proceedings of the Evacuee Trust Property Board in the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court.

The hearing on the petition related to the property Lal Haveli had been fixed for 11 o’clock.

Earlier today former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed’s residence lal haveli was sealed by the Evacuee Trust Property Rawalpindi.

Deputy Administrator Evacuee Trust Property Asif Khan reached Lal Haveli with a heavy contingent of FIA and police and sealed seven land units including two units of Sheikh Rasheed’s residence in Lal Haveli.

It may be recalled that Sheikh Rasheed was issued a notice by the Evacuee Trust Property to vacate Lal Haveli, after which Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid challenged the action against Lal Haveli in the court.

However, while talking to the media, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that we have not received any notice from the Evacuee Trust Property Board and we will go to court against the matter.

Confirming the complete sealing of Lal Haveli, the former interior minister said, “I was not present in the haveli, I was in Islamabad, they wanted to arrest me at night but I went around.”

He said, “Lal Haveli is our property, they have sealed Lal Haveli on the pretext, if Lal Haveli is not our personal property then we should be hanged publically, they want people’s attention to be diverted.”
