Sheikh Rashid claims all the matters related to elections have been settled

The former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that the matters regarding fresh elections, formation of a new election commission and caretaker government have been settled.

In a tweet, Sheikh Rasheed said that instead of by-elections, matters on new elections have been settled and the nation would very soon hear about the date of elections in October.

Referring to the former president and Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari, he said that even the people who are in quarantine also had agreed to elections but only Maulana Fazlur Rehman was left.

He stated in his tweet that the dollar reaching 250 and the increased prices of electricity and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) would cause the shut-down of markets. He also has said that the reputation of the government and its allies had turned to ashes as democracy had become a joke and assembly a spectacle.

A day earlier Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. He had said that in order for his demand for fresh elections in the country Imran Khan should dissolve the assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where his party has power.

Rana Sanaullah also said that his party head Nawaz Sharif had always wanted the country to move towards elections. Criticizing Imran Khan he said that the man was asking to sack the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) but he was not realizing that CEC could not be replaced without fulfilling the required constitutional process.

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had also said in a joint press conference with Maryam Nawaz, Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, and other leaders of PDM that general elections would be held on time as the government would complete its term.
