Sindh house declared sub-jail to house MNA Ali Wazir

The incarcerated member of National Assembly from South Waziristan and leader of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) Ali Wazir has been moved to Islamabad from Karachi ahead of voting day on no-confidence motion.

The Sindh Home Department will be taking the said MNA to the capital and there is a possibility that he will stay there for few days.

“The government of Sindh declares Room No. 214, Sindh House, Islamabad as “Sub-Jail” for confinement of the under-trial prisoner Muhammad Ali Wazir s/o Mirza Alam Khan,” read a notification issued by Sindh Home Department.

Wazir is an elected MNA from NA-50 South Waziristan. He was elected in the 2018 general elections as an independent candidate. He was arrested by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police on December 16, 2020 on a request from the Sindh police from Peshawar. From then onwards, he has been incarcerated at Karachi’s Central Prison.

It is worth mentioning here that Supreme Court had granted bail to Wazir and directed the MNA to submit surety bonds worth Rs400,000 in the trial court in November 2021.
