Singer Zoheb Hassan denounces use of his and Nazia’s song ‘Dosti’ in ‘Sinf-e-Aahan’ without authorization

Notable pop singer Zoheb Hassan has issued a statement against popular drama serial ‘Sinf-e-Aahan’ running these days on ARY Digital.

The singer did so over the fact that in one of its scenes, the team of ‘Sinf-e-Aahan’ has played the popular song ‘Dosti’, which Zoheb sang along with his sister Nazia Hassan in the 1980s, but without seeking permission from Zoheb. The singer also shared a statement issued by the entertainment company that holds the copyrights to the song, which went as follows:

“It has come to our knowledge that below-mentioned parties have used and commercially broadcast our song entitled #Dosti composed by Zoheb Hassan and sung originally by Nazia Hassan and Zoheb Hassan without our prior consent or approval by producers of drama serial entitled #SinfeAhan. We therefore reserve our right to take action against all liable parties involved or associated with such infringement: Humayun Saeed, Shahzad Nasib, Samina Humayun, Sana Shahnawaz, Director Nadeem Baig, Producers Next Level Entertainment, Six Sigma Plus, ISPR, ARY Digital, ARY News, ARY – for and on behalf of B & H International Pvt Limited Syed Akbar.”

Following this, a lot of fans expressed their support for Zoheb Hassan and encouraged him to move forward with his stance. At the same time, some were skeptical if a statement issued against a drama backed by the army would be taken seriously or not. The team of the serial itself has not given any response as yet, either on social media or legally.
