Social activist found dead in Thatta

Renowned social activist Abdul Sattar Mirankhor was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the Bagar Mori area of Thatta district late Sunday night.

According to credible sources, the body of Abdul Sattar Mirankhor was lying in the bushes alongside the main road, and was spotted by a few commuters who later informed the area police.

The body was brought to Civil Hospital Thatta for an autopsy where a team of doctors led by Dr Yaqoob Khushik performed the postmortem. As per the initial report, the death was caused due to a head injury inflicted with a sharp object.

As soon as the news of the incident broke, former MNA belonging to Pakistan People’s Party, Dr Abdul Wahid Sommro, the relatives of the deceased, and people from different walks of life started reaching the hospital. The former MNA directed Thatta police to investigate the bizarre death of the social activist.

The area SHO told local reporters that initially it seemed a road accident, but the postmortem report demanded a detailed probe into the mysterious death. He said the police had sealed the area from where the body was recovered.

Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased expressed suspicion of murder and said that they would get an FIR lodged in the light of the police report.
