State gifts not yours, Maryam tells Imran

PML-N leader advises president to resign for not administering oath to cabinet

Responding to the statement of Imran Khan that the gifts of Toshakhana were his and that it was his choice whether to keep them or not, Maryam Nawaz said that “the valuables are not yours to keep”.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had accused Imran Khan of selling around 58 valuables from Toshakhana worth 140 million rupees. “Your gift is not yours but the gift of the state. Now your dictation won’t work! Open your eyes, your fake government and your future both are over! You will be held accountable, God willing!” Maryam tweeted.

She also called out President Dr. Arif Alvi for not conducting the oath-taking ceremony of the cabinet, saying if he did not have the courage to fulfill his duties as the president, he could resign and go home. Meanwhile, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday said the nation had to decide whether it wanted to stand by those who were meticulously pursuing the agenda of development and prosperity, or to be “misled by the propaganda of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan”.

She expressed optimism that the people were prudent enough to finally opt for the well-wishers of Pakistan. Addressing a press conference, she said that for the last four years, the people were made to believe in fake development and progress at the cost of public money. “Fake papers were waved in the Press Information Department (PID), whereas the former prime minister kept on leveling allegations against political opponents on a daily basis,” she added.

The nation, she said, would soon know about the flawed policies of PTI government which did great harm to the country. High inflation, unemployment, ruined economy, mishandling of the Kashmir issue, and foreign policy misadventure were the hallmarks of the last four years, she lamented. Marriyum said Imran Khan started to target state institutions in a bid to cover up his sheer incompetence and lackluster performance.
