Former Australian captain Steve Smith has issued a caution to his side regarding Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi in advance of this year’s Test series in Australia.

According to Steve Smith, who was speaking to the media, the all-format captain Babar Azam is a fantastic hitter in contemporary cricket because of the way he has been playing the game in recent years.

“Babar Azam is a person we should watch out for. He is dangerous, makes big plays, and typically moves along at a good pace.”

Shaheen Afridi’s skills have improved since he played for the national team on their previous visit, according to Smith, who was speaking about them.

The 22-year-old fast bowler can swing the ball, and when it comes to the new ball, he becomes even more dangerous, the right-handed batsman continued.

Naturally, his ability to swing it back is crucial. We should keep an eye out for Shaheen Shah Afridi this year, Steve Smith continued.

Notably, the Babar Azam-led team will play three Test matches before traveling to Australia for the red-ball series following the ODI World Cup in 2023 in India.

According to the itinerary, the first match of the Australian summer will take place at Perth’s Optus Stadium before moving on to the country’s next two customary holiday Tests in Melbourne and Sydney.
