More than 600 Pakistanis have appealed to the government to make efforts for their evacuation from Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion on Thursday.

Most of these Pakistanis were students at different universities while some were there on work permits. In addition to them, a few Pakistani businessmen have also been stranded because of the developing tensions.

A student living in Kyiv told Minute Mirror on the condition of anonymity that, “More than 700 Pakistani students have been studying at various universities of the country and there is no chance that they could leave the country because airlines have stopped operating.”

The student said that the government should arrange chartered planes to evacuate them. “Things are not normal in Kyiv. Although no attack has been carried out in the capital so far, there are fears that it would also be attacked. There seems to be fear in parts of the city and people have already started storing food,” he added.

Moreover, a Pakistani businessman who recently went to Ukraine on a business trip, on the condition of anonymity told Minute Mirror, “We are worried about Pakistanis and the government should make urgent efforts to evacuate them.”
