A suicide attack occurred in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today on the polling day of first-ever local government elections in the city.

According to reports, a vehicle carrying eight to 10 voters and workers of Awami National Party was targeted near Kamarsar Vill, Tehsil Mamnud in District Bajaur around 1:30pm.

According to an election agent from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, the voting was slow as this was the first-ever local government election in the area, and the voters also included women.

He said, “People have to cast their vote on five seats, due to which the process has been time consuming.”

The voting will continue till 5:00pm. When the deadline passes, only those who will be in the polling compound will be allowed to cast the vote.

Last night in Quetta, one person lost their life while 10 others were injured following a blast in Quetta’s Kandhari Bazar.

The Counter Terrorism Department had said that the attack had been carried out using an explosives-laden motorcycle.
