Sutlej River overflows flooding several villages

The water level in the Sutlej River is constantly rising. Several villages have been inundated due to moderate flooding at Head Sulaimanki in Haveli Lakha.

The water level in the Sutlej River continues to rise, due to which the families living on the banks of the river continue to move to safer places.

Several villages were inundated as the water level in the Sutlej River in Manchinabad.

More than 83,000 cusecs of flood water is passing through Pakpattan, people are migrating under their own resources.

On the other hand, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has said that preparations are complete to deal with the emergency situation. Relief camps of Pakistan Army have also been set up. Bahawalpur Corps troops are on standby with additional equipment.

DG PDMA Imran Qureshi said that 41 relief camps have been set up in the districts adjoining the Sutlej River, relief camps have been set up on the instructions of the caretaker chief minister, in which 408 rescuers, 135 boats and other machinery are engaged in work.

Imran Qureshi said that so far 26,428 people have been shifted to safer places, and 1643 animals have also been evacuated from the floodplains.

DG PDMA said that the flow of water at Ganda Singh Wala in Sutlej River is normal, where the inflow and outflow is 18,564, but there is a moderate flood at Head Sulaimanki, where the inflow and outflow is 83,570.

According to the DG PDMA, the flow of water in Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum rivers is also normal, preparations are complete to deal with any emergency situation.

Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed said that Pakpattan, Vehari and Bahawalnagar have been kept on high alert, and rescue and flood relief camps have been established in these three districts, while rescue operations are going on in the riverine areas of Sutlej.

Relief Commissioner Punjab said that essential equipment and livestock of the people are also being shifted to safer places, DG PDMA Imran Qureshi is supervising the rescue operation.

According to Nabeel Javed, the water relay will reach From Head Sulaimanki to Head Islam in 60 hours, Bahawalpur and Lodhran have also been instructed to complete the security arrangements.
