Swedish Charge d’Affaires summoned, Pakistan lodges strong protest against Holy Quran’s desecration

Pakistan has lodged a strong protest against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden by summoning the Charge d’Affaires of Sweden.

The Charge d’Affaires of Sweden posted in Pakistan was summoned to the Foreign Office, Pakistan lodged a strong protest with the Swedish Charge d’Affaires.

Acting Foreign Secretary Cyrus Qazi summoned the Swedish Charge d’Affaires. The Swedish Charge d’Affaires was apprised of Pakistan’s serious concerns over the continued desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

He was told that such incidents are the cause of Islamophobia around the world and the heart of billions of Muslims, such insulting incidents in the guise of freedom of expression are not acceptable.

On the first day of Eid-ul-Azha last Wednesday, 37-year-old Salvan Momika Badbakht of Iraqi origin burnt a copy of the Holy Quran in front of the Stockholm Mosque in Sweden under police protection.

Heads of other non-Muslim countries, including Turkey, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Iraq, Iran, Senegal and Morocco, also strongly condemned the desecration of the copy of the Holy Quran.
