T20 World Cup: England defeat Pakistan by six wickets in warm-up match

England has defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the first warm-up match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 after choosing to bowl first, having won the toss.

Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan were given rest for the warm up match. Shadab Khan captained the side whereas Asif Ali played as the wicketkeeper.

Pakistan scored 160 runs in 19 overs in the rain-hit match. The two openers Shan Masood and Haider Ali started the innings but Haider was out after scoring 18 runs. Shan scored 39, Shadab 14, Iftikhar 22, Asif Ali 14, and Nawaz 10 while Waseem scored quick 26. Naseem Shah (2) and Haris Rauf (1) remained not out. Khushdil could not score any run.

David Willey took two wickets while Stokes, Curran, Jordan and Livingstone could get one wicket each.

In reply, England lost first early wicket when Naseem Shah got Salt. Hales scored 9, Stokes 36, Livingstone 28, Brook and Curran remained not out after scoring 45 and 33 runs respectively.

The squad consisted of Shan Masood, Haider Ali, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Asif Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Waseem Jr.

On the other hand, England squad comprised of Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Mark Wood.

Muhammad Waseem took two wickets while Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan got one wicket each.
