Tajik President arrives in Pakistan for two-day official visit

Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon landed in Islamabad on Wednesday for a two-day official visit to Pakistan.

On his arrival at the Islamabad international airport, he was received by the Minister of Commerce Naveed Qamar.

The two sides will discuss how to further bolster their bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas during the visit. It is anticipated that several bilateral agreements and MoUs will be inked.

The visit of the president of Tajikistan to Pakistan is expected to provide the developing geo-economic partnership between the two countries with fresh impetus and to expand collaboration between them in a variety of areas.

A transit trade deal, which the cabinet authorized last week on the proposal of the commerce minister, is one of the agreements that are likely to be signed.

Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a statement that Pakistan and Tajikistan are brotherly countries connected by long-standing historical, cultural, and religious ties.

She further said, “These ties are marked by mutual respect and exceptional cordiality. The two countries have a commonality of views on various regional and international issues.”
