During the final night of the 2023 U.S. leg of The Eras Tour in Los Angeles, Taylor Swift excitedly revealed her next re-recorded album, ‘1989 Taylor’s Version.’ The announcement came after much anticipation, as fans speculated she would unveil the ‘1989’ rerecording on August 9th. She playfully alluded to this speculation during the concert’s acoustic section, pointing out her string of blue outfits worn during the show, including the one she wore for the announcement.

Swift’s fifth studio album, ‘1989,’ originally released on October 27, 2014, will see its re-recorded version, ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version),’ drop on October 27, 2023, precisely nine years after the original release. Her decision to re-record her albums stems from the desire to regain control over her music after her previous label, Big Machine Records, sold her masters in 2019.

Addressing the crowd, Swift expressed her gratitude for their overwhelming support in her journey to reclaim her music. She mentioned that what initially started as a personal endeavor turned into a collective effort, as fans rallied behind her cause. Swift thanked her fans for their unwavering support, illustrating how their dedication mirrored her desire to retain ownership of her creative work.
