Tehsildar, two labourers killed in Balochistan

At least three people, including two labourers and a senior administration official, were killed in two separate incidents of firing in Balochistan’s capital Quetta and Kech district on Monday.

Police sources said armed men opened fire on a vehicle in the Musa Colony area near Sariab Road of the provincial capital, killing Tehsildar Abdul Sattar Mashwani. A Levies official, Sarwar Bangulzai, narrowly escaped the attack, they added.

The attackers fled away from the scene following the incident. Shortly after, police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for a postmortem. In Kech district, armed men gunned down two labourers working on a construction site.

Levies sources said the incident happened in Hoshap tehsil of Kech. The attackers fled on their motorcycles after the attack. Contingents of Levies and Frontier Corps (FC) reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.

On Friday night, five labourers working at a road construction site in the Harnai district were kidnapped by unidentified persons.

Later, in a Levies search operation, two of the labourers were found injured at some distance from the construction site, one of whom is stated to be in a critical condition. Following the attack, the Ministry of Communications and Postal Services termed the National Highway project an important one, saying engineers, construction experts and other workers engaged would be given full protection.
