Terrorism is spreading again

The attempted terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers camp in Karachi is a heinous act. Although security forces successfully stopped the attackers from entering the facility, the incident shows that militant groups are still capable of planning and carrying out dangerous attacks. According to officials, the attack began with a powerful explosion at the main gate of the Rangers compound in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Armed militants then tried to storm the camp, but Rangers personnel responded quickly. Three attackers were killed, one injured suspect was arrested, and the facility was secured. Sadly, three brave security personnel lost their lives while defending the installation, while four others were injured.

This was not just an attack on a security building. It was an attack on Pakistan’s peace and stability. Militants often target security forces because they want to spread fear, weaken public confidence, and show that they can strike important locations. Such attacks also send a message that terrorist networks remain active despite years of military operations. Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terrorist incidents in recent months. From Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to Sindh, militants have repeatedly targeted security forces, civilians, and public infrastructure. This growing pattern should be treated as a national security challenge that requires urgent attention.

Security forces deserve credit for preventing what could have been a much larger tragedy. However, defensive operations alone are not enough. Pakistan needs a crushing response against terrorist groups, their financiers, facilitators, and support networks. Intelligence sharing, stronger border security, and sustained counterterrorism operations must continue without interruption. The fight against terrorism cannot slow down. Every successful attack encourages militants, while every successful operation by security forces protects innocent lives. Pakistan must remain united and determined to defeat terrorism before it spreads further and threatens the country’s peace, economy, and future.
