The law above all: Experimental traffic monitoring via drone cameras begins

Drone technology will identify problems like illegal parking, one-way violations and encroachments

In light of the orders of the Lahore High Court, City Traffic Police Lahore has started experimental traffic monitoring with the help of drone cameras.

Initially, traffic monitoring has been launched experimentally with drone cameras on Jail Road. During the drone monitoring, one-way violations, road engineering problems are to be observed.

Problems such as illegal parking, encroachments will be identified and their immediate solution will be ensured.

Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Muntazir Mehdi said that a complete monitoring and surveillance unit would be set up in the City Traffic Police office.

Meanwhile, in the light of the orders of the Lahore High Court, a fine of Rs2000 would be charged to the citizens engaging in one-way violations, non-possession of driving license and driving vehicles causing pollution.

Mehdi further said that the use of drone cameras was a step towards improving the traffic system and eliminating smog.

He added that 17 joint teams of police and Punjab Safe Cities Authority officials had taken effective action against those who had not paid the e-challans while violators were being sent challans by post.
