Three terrorists killed, four arrested in separate IBOs: ISPR

Security forces killed three and apprehended four terrorists during two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in North Waziristan district on Saturday, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing.

The Inter-Services Public Relations statement said a high-value terrorist commander, along with three other militants, was captured in an injured condition in the first operation. It added that three terrorists were killed in a second operation.

“Weapons, ammunition and IEDs (improvised explosive devices) were also recovered. All the terrorists (killed and apprehended) were affiliated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group.

“These terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, extortion for ransom and killing of innocent citizens,” the ISPR said.

On July 13, the ISPR said security forces killed six terrorists during an IBO in North Waziristan’s Datta khel area. A soldier was also martyred. Clashes between security forces and suspected terrorists in North Waziristan tribal district have become quite frequent in recent months.

Late last month, two soldiers were martyred and seven terrorists killed during an exchange of fire in North Waziristan’s Ghulam Khan Kalle area.

Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) awarded two-year imprisonment to two terrorists of a banned outfit, said a spokesman of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of KP Police on Saturday.

The spokesman added that the court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 each on them.

The two were arrested during a search and strike operation conducted by CTD Malakand region on October 10, 2022.

Later, police recovered hand grenades, improvised explosive device, detonators and ammunition from their place.

Separately, funeral prayer for martyred policeman Andaz Gul was offered at the Khyber Levy Center on Saturday.

District Police Officer Imran Khan, Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Ijaz and a large number of police, military and civil administration officials were also present.

A well-armed contingent of police offered salute to the coffin of the martyred. Gul had received critical bullet wounds when unidentified attackers opened fire near his home in Bara tehsil, Khyber district.
