Toshakhana gifts public property, everyone can participate in auction: Supreme Court

Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the federal government withdrew the appeal against the Lahore High Court’s decision regarding the auction of Toshakhana gifts in the Supreme Court, the bench declared the Lahore High Court’s decision in accordance with the constitution and law.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case related to the auction of Toshakhana gifts.

The Deputy Attorney General said that the new law regarding Toshakhana gifts is with the President for ratification.

Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan remarked that the high court’s decision will remain in place, the High Court declared that Toshakhana gifts are public property, everyone can participate in the auction of gifts, gifts are public property, so it is not possible that only specific people can buy.

Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the Lahore High Court’s decision is correct according to the constitution and law.

After taking the direction, the Deputy Attorney General requested to withdraw the appeal filed against the High Court orders as per the rules.

Justice Athar Minallah remarked that do not go to the rules, there is already a lot of shame on Toshakhana, if you talk about the rules, then we will raise the question under which law the rules have been made, let the rules be, if you are withdrawing the appeal, then take it like this.
