Toxic acohol took 22 lives in India

At least 22 people have lost their lives whereas many hospitalized in India after drinking toxic Alcohol.

According to authorities, the deaths mostly occurred in two villages in the eastern state of Bihar, where it is illegal to sell and use alcohol.

The first victim was from the Saran district that began vomiting on Tuesday before dying.

According to local media sources, thirty-one people died on Wednesday and Thursday, three died en route to the hospital and others perished while receiving treatment.

Sagar Dulal Sinha, the hospital’s chief, reported that 22 post-mortem investigations have been completed till now.

A senior police official Santosh Kumar claimed that local illegal alcohol retailers had come under harsh enforcement.

“We have arrested over a dozen liquor traders and detained some others,” Kumar said.

The International Spirits and Wine Association of India estimated that of the five billion litres of alcohol used annually in the nation, about 40% is manufactured illegally.

42 persons in the western state of Gujarat also passed away in July as a result of consuming illicit alcohol.

Additionally, a similar occurrence claimed the lives of approximately 100 people in the northern province of Punjab last year.
