Train carrying Sikh pilgrims derails near Shorkot Cantt

A special passenger train carrying Sikh pilgrims has derailed near Shorkot Cantt on Saturday.

No loss of life or injuries was reported in the incident in which eight coaches had derailed. The special train for Sikh pilgrims was travelling from Karachi to Nankana Sahib.

All Sikh pilgrims remained safe in the incident due to which train services have been suspended. A crane has been called by Railway officials for rescue.

Pakistan had issued 2,942 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India. The visiting pilgrims have come to participate in the festivities of the birth celebrations of their religious leader Baba Guru Nanak at Nankana Sahib. The festivities will start on Saturday.

The visas were in addition to the visas that were granted to Sikh pilgrims from other countries who have also come to participate in the birth festivities.
